Thomas Lohr was born in Bavaria and studied in Berlin. He then worked in New York, before spending 10 years in London and has recently settled in Paris. As a photographer, his fashion, portrait and still-life work has made him an internationally sought-after contributor to magazines including AnOther, Vogue, V Man, W, Zeit among others. Known for his rigorous, exacting and detailed portrayal of beauty, Lohr’s work articulates his vision beyond the modes of traditional publishing. His first book, Birds (2015) investigates the beauty of abstraction in the natural world.
His book Rodin (2017) is a study of Rodin’s sculptures, exploring the form, material and history of this classic body of work. Lohr’s expansive vision of photography and image-making finds beauty in between and beyond formal distinctions.
Thomas has recently released his new book View Point.
