A California native, raised in Hawaii, Rachel splits her time between Los Angeles and New York. Before establishing herself in the beauty and fashion industry as a hairstylist, Rachel's life revolved around the west coast music scene- playing in different bands before becoming a DJ and nightlife producer. In the late 90’s Rachel formed an all-female hip hop collective to create a space for skill sharing for women in music, specifically women of color. After landing a gig DJing at a hair salon, she became inspired to try hair styling. Rachel quickly discovered a passion for hair and went to New York, hitting the fashion week circuit to assist hair legends including Guido, James Pecis, Duffy, and Anthony Turner. Her early career in nightlife and the gay club scene has influenced the way she builds aesthetics and creative identities for shoots. Rachel's multi-faceted career path has allowed her to create without traditional boundaries on set. Rachel is a proud member of the Rubric initiative, an organization founded by Stylist Nell Kalonji, that is dedicated to fighting racism and classism in the fashion industry. Outside of the industry, Rachel is an activist for the LGBTQ Community and Black Lives Matter. She is dedicated to the underserved bipoc youth communities and has been working for multiple years with at-risk youth and incarcerated teens.
